This is Jacob Theisen and I need to take a moment of your time to make sure you understand that this gift that you are about to give to me is not a tax deductible charitable contribution. I am not a Non-Profit Organization. I am just an individual who supports these schools in India with my own money and by making this gift you make it easier for me to continue supporting these schools.
To be fair, I do not deduct the support I send to these school either. The 5 schools I fund are also not Non-Profit-Organizations. They are just a bunch of kids trying to learn to read, write and do some arithmetic and this is just something I do to help give these kids a chance at an education that they would otherwise not have.
If you would like to make a gift greater than $14,000, I strongly encourage you to call your tax professional and discuss this gift before you do it. Making a gift greater than $14,000 may result in a taxable event and I don’t want anyone to regret a gift to me.
Yes, I have looked into setting up a 503C organization that would allow you and I to deduct these as a charitable contributions. The issue is that it has been estimated it would cost me about 20% of the money I send to these kids to set this up and to maintain that 503C organization. I would rather forgo the tax deductible charitable contribution and put that money in the hands of the teachers trying to give these kids a chance at an education.
Thank you for taking the time to look at what I am doing and I hope you will agree with my reasoning.
Sincerely,
Jacob Theisen
